Find a ride going your way

Enter where you're starting and where you're headed. On The Way shows drivers whose route already passes close to you — within walking distance of your pickup and drop-off, heading in the right direction.

Book your seat — or seats

Reserve a seat for yourself, or book for everyone travelling with you. Your maximum fuel-cost contribution is shown before you book — the final amount can only stay the same or go down as more travellers share the journey. The driver confirms, and your seat is held.

Track the trip and arrive

Watch your driver approach on the map with a live ETA, and share a tracking link so someone you trust can follow along. Rate each other at the end to keep the community trustworthy.

This isn't a taxi. Drivers publish personal journeys they're already making — your morning commute, a run to Kandy, a trip home for the weekend — and offer the seats they'd otherwise leave empty. You contribute a fair share of the fuel for the kilometres you travel together, and nobody makes a profit.

Every driver is checked before they can offer a seat — national ID, driving licence, and vehicle documents are reviewed by our team. Number plates are registered to one owner only, so the car that picks you up is the car on the profile.

No. On The Way is carpooling. Drivers are ordinary people sharing seats on personal journeys they're already making, not professional drivers waiting for passengers. Instead of paying for a ride, you simply share the fuel cost of a journey that was happening anyway.
The driver doesn't set a price. The app works out the journey's fuel cost from the route distance, the vehicle's verified fuel efficiency and the current fuel price, then splits each stretch of road equally among everyone on board — the driver included, so they always cover a share. You see your maximum contribution before you book, and the final amount can only be the same or lower, never higher. Payment is handled in cash, directly to the driver.
During a trip you can press SOS once. The app immediately sends your trusted contacts a WhatsApp message containing a live tracking link to your current location, and logs a security alert. Your contacts can follow you in real time, even without the app.
Drivers submit their national ID, driving licence and vehicle documents, which our team reviews before they can offer rides. Each number plate can belong to only one verified driver, and every trip ends with a two-way rating.
We collect only what's needed to run the service and keep trips safe, and we explain every category plainly in our Privacy Policy. Location is shared during a trip so you can be tracked for safety, and your trusted contacts only see your trip when you choose to share it.
Sign up, complete your profile, then add your licence, vehicle details and your vehicle's fuel type and efficiency for verification. Once approved you can publish journeys you're already making and share the fuel cost of your empty seats. You can switch between riding and driving any time you're not mid-trip.
